Osaka Reasonable Affordable Hotel

I have always liked to stay in Osaka during my trips to the Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe) Staying at a hotel in Osaka will put travelers in the middle of the Kansai area geographically. Being based in Osaka will allow travelers to have the easy access to Kyoto to the east, Kobe to the west, and Nara/Uji to the south. Osaka Hotels are typically less expensive than Tokyo hotels. For travelers with limited amount of vacation time, I believe in hotels in convenient locations or interesting areas. Many different areas in Osaka have different characteristics; certain area is more suitable for foodies and some areas are more suitable for shoppers. I have listed my recommendations for reasonably priced hotels in different areas in Osaka.

TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Compare prices on reliable hotel comparison websites such as Trivago, or TripAdvisor for the best deals on accommodation in Osaka Japan. Osaka hotels could be short supplied during high season, compare as many website as possible. Agoda and Hotels.com are also good choices for hotel booking due to their large volume of inventory.

2. Start booking for hotels 3 to 4 months prior to your travel dates; Reasonable Osaka hotels are high in demand, even local Japanese business travelers have difficulty booking reasonable hotels due to the recent tourism surge from Asian, North American and European visitors.

3. Consider breaking up your hotel stay to 2 to 3 nights in order to find more vacancy in affordable Osaka hotels. For example, if you are planning to stay in Osaka for 5 nights, consider staying at one hotel for 3 nights and staying at another hotel for the remaining 2 nights. Any 5-night consecutive hotel stay in Osaka is usually difficult to come by due to the high demand and short supply.

4. Staying at nearby cities such as Kyoto or Kobe is also a great option for visitors to Osaka. Kyoto is about 26 minute away by commuter train. The cost of train ride is about 560 yen.

5. High seasons beside June to August for Osaka is usually cherry blossom season in early April and autumn color season in mid November to late November. I would recommend booking your hotel 4 to 5 months prior to your popular season travel dates.



 

"SOUTH" MINAMI 南区/NAMBA 難波
Easy access to many subway stations and JR Nanpa station.  This area is known to be foodie's and shopping paradise. Many of the restaurants in this area open 24 hours.

One of my favorite areas in Osaka. Staying at the center of Doutonbori make me feel like I am visiting a Japanese food theme park. Doutonbori is situated in the center of 4 convenient subway station and within close proximity to JR Nanba station, subway Nipponbashi and subway Namba station.

- this hotel offers high value hotel breakfast; conveniently located at the center of Dotonbori district. It offers a very nice view overlooking Dotonbori area from the hotel breakfast hall.

"NORTH" KITA 北区
Easy access to JR Osaka station, therefore easy access to JR Osaka Loop line, Kobe and Kyoto via JR train line. Suitable for travelers who wish to take the more affordable JR train lines instead of the more expensive Shinkansen bullet train.

1. Umeda 梅田/JR Osaka Station Area 大阪駅

Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Obervatory

A more stylish/hip area when compare to the "South" Minami area. Easy access to JR Osaka station. Best night view spot at Floating Garden Observatory on top of Umeda Sky Building. Many department stores are located in the Umeda/Osaka area. Great access to subway station.

2. JR Shin-Osaka Station Area 新大阪駅

Shin-Osaka Station Shinkansen Bullet Train Entrance

Great location if travelers are using JR pass to hop on and off Shinkansen bullet train. Relatively more affordable location. Situated only a few stops from Umeda/Osaka shopping area. Great access to subway station.

TSUTENKAKU 通天閣/TENNOJI 天王寺

Tsutenkaku Tower, Osaka

Best location to take a glimpse into Osaka people's daily life. Hotels in this area are relatively more affordable than other areas in Osaka. Great access to many subway stations and JR Shin-imamiya station via the Osaka loop line.
